Parts of Medicare
Part A
Medicare Part A, also known as Hospital Insurance covers hospital stays, skilled nursing facility care, hospice care, and some home health care. Most people don't pay a premium for Part A because they or their spouse paid Medicare taxes while working.
Part B
Medicare Part B, also known as Medical Insurance covers things like doctor visits, outpatient care, preventive services, and medical equipment. There's usually a monthly premium for Part B, which is based on your income.
Part C
Medicare Part C, or Medicare Advantage are plans offered by private companies that cover all services under Part A and Part B, and often include additional benefits like dental, vision, and prescription drug coverage. Premiums for these plans vary.
Part D
Medicare Part D, also known as Prescription Drug Coverage are standalone plans that help cover the cost of prescription medications. They're offered by private companies, and premiums vary based on the plan you choose.
